Hi everybody, I would like to take this moment to announce my departure from SAGA. I have a neurological condition called Dystonia which affects the co-ordination in my left arm and hand. I had been diagnosed with this condition before I joined the band bit it has been getting progressively worse and some night's I can barely hold on to a drumstick. My leaving has nothing to do with my relationship with the band members who are my buds and we will remain friends. This is a very sad moment for me as I was honored to play in SAGA with some of tthe most talented musicians in the world. I will also miss you fans who are truly the most loyal I have experienced in my travels and any band would be lucky to have a group like you supporting them! I whish the band all the best in the future and would one again like to thank them for welcoming me into their family 3 years ago. All the best. Christian Simpson |

SAGA - The Chapters - Live to be released October, 3rd 2005!! For fans of the Canadian rock legends, Saga, the so-called chapters have always been a special incentive, as well as an obscure mystery. After all, there is a long, interconnected story behind these songs that are linked in a mysterious way, revealed by the musicians bit by bit. Spread over the band’s entire career, they have developed a kind of central theme, adding to the fascination that Saga continue to exude in 2005. Once, during their memorable Misbehaviour tour in 1986, Saga performed all existing chapters in their correct sequence. At the time, Chapters number 1 – 8 were available, and another eight have been added since. Their new live double album, Chapters, features every single part, starting with ‘Images’ (Chapter 1) and ending with ‘Worlds Apart’ (Chapter 16) – a monumental rock recording with a total playing time of over 80 minutes that really comes into its own live on stage. The first ever "Chapters" live album, containing all 16 Chapters!!! Saga bassist Jim Crichton explains the Chapters concept: "The concept for the Chapters was originaly conceived in 1977. I read an article in a magazine describing Einstein's brain had been preserved for study and was being kept at the Smithsonian Institute. At the time I found this quite bizzare. In the late 70's the news was filled with the talk of nuclear war and we were about to ride through a decade of Star Wars movies. These were the ingredients which inspired the story. Without giving the whole story away the basic idea was that extraterrestrial life had been monitoring Earth's progress and was becoming fearful of its self destruction. So they decided they would need someone on Earth to champion the changes that would have to be made to put Earth back on a stable course. Very quickly, they realized the only person who was capable was Einstein. The plan was to give him the body which we see on the first album cover allowing him to be brought back to life so he could make changes by whatever means necessary to ensure the Earth's future. In chapter one we see Einstein as an old man on the verge of madness trying desperately to make some sense out of this life as he draws images on the sidewalk of people and events that influenced the path he chose in life." |

Michael Sadler of Saga had been working on a solo tour but with all the touring Saga is doing, and the various members of his band, they couldn't quite make the timing work, so they opted instead for a one off, free show where they would also film for a DVD. While there is still a possibility of some live dates in 2006, this might be the only opportunity to see his solo album "Clear" performed live with his 10 piece band, but of course you can always buy the DVD as well. Here are the details:
Date: September 15th, 2005
Time: Open from 3pm to 9pm (they'll be playing it a few times to get it all down perfect with the cameras)
Where: The El Rey - 5515 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA. 90036
Price: Free
Capacity: 300 - first come, first serve
If you have any questions regarding this video shoot, you can ask them at the forum in a thread called
"CLEAR VIDEO SHOW" at Michaels website and they will be answered as soon as possible.
